[April 1 2026]: Updated to reflect the current state of the game.
[November 24 2025]:
- Started using the term "alpha" instead of "demo" for the version to be released on the 16th, since it's probably a lot more accurate.
- Updated planned features to reflect changes made in development (some features removed/reworked, with new features also being added.)
- Regarding the removal of "Rogue Mode": The game still has many "roguelike" elements as major features, but I have stopped referring to it with that term as a primary genre definition, because I feel that its gameplay now more strongly resembles other genres on a surface level. What was originally intended to be "Rogue Mode" has now been reworked into 2 other features, those being Expeditions and Chapel Challenge.
[November 20 2025]: Release date of the demo has been pushed back from the 2nd to the 16th (reason explained on the site's front page.)
Night of Eternal Night's alpha is currently available for download on Windows via itch.io. Once the game has left alpha, and its demo has been completed, it will also be made available on Steam. As of now, there is no specific planned date for the game's full release.
★ The entirety of Scenario A: This consists of the game's main story campaign. This is already technically available in the alpha right now, but some revisions have been made to the gameplay and story.
★ Over 20 unique items to collect, each one having its own effect that can empower characters and alter playstyles.
★ Expeditions: A prototype version of a choose-your-own-adventure style mode that allows you to encounter unique events, find exclusive items, and even challenge additional bosses. The demo will only feature one Expedition area of very limited complexity, but I plan for this feature to become much more varied and content-heavy as time goes on.
★ Chapel Challenge: A prototype of an extra challenge mode where you battle your way back up the Crescent Chapel and challenge new bosses exclusive to the mode. The demo will only allow you to go up to Floor 10, which will allow you to fight two new bosses, but I plan for this feature to also become very extensive.
★ Some basic achievements to earn, including a few challenges related to some of the boss fights.
★ Lots of flavor text!
★ Lots of hand-drawn 2D artwork and animations, including the playable characters' expressions changing depending on the context of each battle.
★ 15+ original songs composed for NOEN specifically.
★ Existential horrors beyond comprehension.
★ Cute yuri.
★ Additional story campaigns: Additional story campaigns will feature both new and returning characters, as well as access to new locations across Månenstat. Scenario B will follow Celine as the protagonist, on her quest to uncover the dark secrets within her family's history. (Originally, Scenario C was intended to be available upon release as well. However, I have changed this due to how Scenario A and Scenario B's storylines have become much more deeply interwoven with each other. I will still honor the idea of Scenario C being available at no additional cost, with it being released as free DLC later. Additional Scenarios may or may not be free, I'm still not entirely sure about it yet.)
★ Nightmare Difficulty: A harder difficulty for the game that upgrades enemy and boss encounters.
★ Multiple types of Expeditions for each visitable area in the game.
★ Additional floors, modifiers, modes, and other content for Chapel Challenge. Currently, Chapel Challenge is planned to have a total of 50 floors, with a special ultra-difficult boss fight at the very end...
★ "PvP": A silly extra mode that opens up the whole battle grid to a free-for-all.
★ Unlockable costumes for characters.
★ More items, enemies, bosses, skills, songs, achievements, et cetera...
★ More cosmic existentialism.
★ More cute yuri.
