Donor Disclaimer

***PLEASE READ THIS PAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE MAKING ANY DONATIONS***

If you have any questions regarding the contents of this page, please email me at treegravy(at)tuta(dot)com, and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you!

At least as of right now, there will be no additional rewards to those who donate amounts over $10 USD, nor will there be other rewards for those who donate under $10 USD. (This may change in the future, but I cannot make any promises.)

I have written this disclaimer in an attempt to be as transparent as possible in regards to the game's development process. I simply will not be able to consistently and/or fully meet many common expectations people often have when choosing to support games in early access, and I want everyone to know how and why in advance so that nobody ends up feeling scammed.

If you are in any way uncomfortable or unsatisfied with the details outlined on this page, then I strongly advise that you do not invest any of your money towards the development of this game.

For the next couple of months, I will be making additional updates to the game's free alpha version, until I feel that it is in a state that could reasonably called a "demo" for the full game. After that point, anyone who wishes to be granted further access to the game will have to pay for it.

Donating $10 USD or more will grant you access to future mid-development builds of the game; so, essentially, you'll be purchasing early access. You will also not have to pay the full price of the finished game later, on itch.io nor Steam; you'll receive a Steam key for the game, too! (Plus, your name will be in the credits as an additional thanks for your support!)

However, while I will make each early access build available as soon as I feel it's ready, I cannot guarantee by any means that the release of these builds will be on a regular basis.

In addition to using the money received to help support myself, as I am unable to sustain any other potential sources of income at this point in time, the money will also be spent on additional expenses related to the game's production; primarily on commissioning work from fellow artists to assist me with certain aspects of the game, such as the soundtrack, promotional art, et cetera.

The reason that I cannot guarantee regular releases of builds is because I am chronically ill and disabled, which severely impacts my overall energy level and executive function. However, I will not use this as an excuse to leave everyone hanging. I will do my best to provide some sort of update on progress on a weekly basis at minimum, even if it's just a couple of sentences saying I wasn't able to work much due to being sick, or something.

I work on creative projects like Night of Eternal Night as a way to keep myself occupied while I am stuck at home (and often bedbound) due to my conditions. I hardly have the energy or mental capacity to do anything else at all, and even then, how I feel on a day-to-day basis can vary wildly.

While I am extremely passionate about my work on this game, it is simply unfeasible for me to be able to deliver content at the same rate as many other creators. Please do not donate if this disappoints you, because it will never change.

So, if you still wish to support the game in spite of all that... well, first of all, thank you SO MUCH, but also I must ask for your patience and understanding regarding my low level of everyday function. While I cannot promise regular delivery of development builds, I will do my best to release one at least every couple of months or so.

Even if I likely won't be able to be particularly active within my own community beyond giving everyone progress updates, I still want everyone to be able to really feel that the time, effort, money, etc. that they choose to invest into supporting Night of Eternal Night is valued. Because, well... it is!

TLDR: This game will be made very inefficiently. I am a very inefficient person for many reasons out of my control, but I still want to do the vast majority of the work solo, because that's just what's fun for me. If you are not okay with these things, then you probably shouldn't donate.

Night of Eternal Night is being solo-developed by Ev Holloway (treegravy).
